考研英语语法之more than的用法

在考研英语中more than出现的次数比较多，很多同学见到more than都不知该如何理解，清楚其用法对同学们正确理解句子非常重要。下面我们一起来看一看more than的用法。

一、 More than后面加数词，表示多于，超过的意思。

例：1. I have known him for more than 10 years.

我已经认识他十多年了。

2. In the past decade, the Japanese divorce rate, while still well below that of the United States, has increased by more than 50 percent, and suicides have increased by nearly one-quarter.(2000年text4)

过去10年中，日本的离婚率，尽管依然远低于美国，却也已经上升了50%多，而自杀率则上升了近1/4。

二、 more than后面加名词或动词，表示不仅仅的意思。

例：1. He more than smiled, but laughed.

他不仅仅是微笑，而是放声大笑。

2. They may teach very well and more than earn their salaries, but most of them make little or no independent reflections on human problems which involve moral judgment.(2006年翻译50题)

他们可能擅长教学，并且不仅仅是为了赚钱，但是他们大多数人对涉及道德判断的人类问题很少或者根本没有进行独立的思考。

三、 more than后面加形容词或副词，表示非常，及其的意思。

例：1. He was more than upset by the accident.

这个意外事故让他非常心烦。

2. The bodies playing major professional sports have changed dramatically over the years, and managers have been more than willing to adjust team uniforms to fit the growing numbers of bigger, longer frames.

过去数年，从事主要职业运动的运动员身材发生了显著的变化，俱乐部经理们很乐意更改队服以适应身材高大的运动员数量不断增长的需求。

四、 more than意思是比更多或与其说不如说

例：1. Hes got more money than the rest of us together.

他的钱比我们大家的加在一起的总数还多。

2. He is more lucky than clever.

与其说他聪明，不如说他幸运。

五、 no more than意思是A与B都不，或者不也不

例：1. He is no more diligent than you. 你不勤奋，他也不勤奋。

2. He is no more a graduate student than she. 他和她一样都不是研究生。
