2017考研英语词汇：熟词僻意（4）

P部分的单词很多，但是并不十分难懂，也是由基础含义引申而来的，通过阅读例句就可以很快掌握。

1. partial

熟意：部分的。

僻意：偏袒的。

例句：In this search the evidence found is always incomplete and scattered; it is also frequently partial or partisan.(1999年 翻译)在这项研究上，证据不完整且分散;通常是有失偏颇的。

2. pick

熟意：采摘，挑拣。

僻意：精华，最好的部分。

例句： The boys here are the pick of the under-15 cricketers in the country... 这儿的男孩是全国15岁以下板球手中的佼佼者。

We had the pick of suits from the shop. 我们买了店里最好的套装。

3. power

熟意：力量，势力。

僻意：电力。

例句：Many see that the country is getting ready to build lots of new power plants to meet our energy needs.(2005年 Text)许多人认为国家正准备建立很多发电厂来满足我们的需求。

4. prize

熟意：奖金，奖赏。

僻意：重视，珍视。

例句：Military figures, made out of lead are prized by collectors... 收藏家们对铅铸的军人塑像视若珍宝。

One of the gallerys most prized possessions is the portrait of Ginevra deBenci. 这个美术馆最珍贵的藏品之一是达芬奇的《女子肖像》。

5. prescribe

熟意：开处方，医嘱。

僻意：规定，禁止。

例句：article II of the constitution, which prescribes the method of electing a president...规定了总统选举方法的宪法第二条

Alliott told Singleton he was passing the sentence prescribed by law. 阿利奥特告诉辛格尔顿他是依法判决。

6. present

熟意：现在，目前;礼物。

僻意：出席的，在现场的。

例句：Many jobs present noise hazards, such as working in factories and around jet aircraft, driving farm tractors, and working (or sitting) in music halls where rock bands are playing. (1988年 Text 2)许多工作暴露在噪音危险中，比如在工厂工作，或在喷气机周围工作，开拖拉机和处于有摇滚乐演出的音乐厅中。

熟意：放置。

僻意：说，陈述。

11. prejudice

熟意：偏见。

僻意：损害。

例句：Her study was not in any way intended to prejudice the future development of the college.
