2017考研英语词汇：熟词僻意（2）

本篇主要是以L开头的单词，在词义解释上没有特别之处，但是latitude这个单词一定要多留意，在考研英语中出现过多次，多指地理术语纬度，但是也考过其生僻含义回旋余地。

Leave

熟意：离开。

僻意：使做某事，使成为

例句：The NT Rights of the Terminally Ill law has left physicians and citizens alike trying to deal with its moral and practical implications. (1997年 text 1)临终病人安乐死法案使医生和患者共同面对安乐死的道德和实际意义。

Level

熟意：水平，层次。

僻意：平坦的。

例句：A football field should be level. 足球场地应该平坦。

The two picture is not quite level that one is higher than the other. 这两幅画挂得不一般高, 这幅比那幅高。

Label

熟意：标签，品牌。

僻意：把归类为

例句：It wont be labelled in any way as a military expedition. 它无论如何也称不上是一次军事远征。

It does not matter whether these duties are labelled duties or tasks. 这些义务被称作义务还是任务都无关紧要。

Live

熟意：生活，活;生命。

僻意：现场直播的。

例句：Devoted concertgoers who reply that recordings are no substitute for live performance are missing the point.(2011年 text 1) 热衷于去剧院看演出的人认为唱片不能代替现场演奏，他们没抓到重点。

Light

熟意：光明，光。

僻意：点燃，点亮。

例句：Thousands of Aztec artifacts came to light during the digging of the Mexico City subway in the 1970s. (2014年 新题型)数千件阿兹特克人的手工艺品在1970年挖墨西哥城地铁的时候被发现。

讲解：come to light 是固定搭配，表示暴露，众所周知。

Light up the stove and you could burn down the house.(1999年 text 1)点燃炉子的时候你有可能把房子都烧掉。

Latitude

熟意：纬度。

僻意：自由度，回旋余地

Land

熟意：土地。

僻意：着陆，登陆。

例句：The brave group of colonists finally had to land at Plymouth on the rocky coast of Massachusetts in December 1620. ( 1988年 完型)1620年12月的一天，一群勇敢的殖民者最后不得不在马萨诸塞州岩石垒垒的普利茅斯海岸登陆。
